The classes are designed for anyone looking to learn new skills. We believe that the best learning experiences are those that include a diverse set of perspectives and experiences.
"I've led classes that included teenagers and senior citizens and they have been some of the most fun. Watching the knowledge exchange between the generations is how we have survived and thrived as a species and I believe is the secret ingredient when it comes to preparing our society for the challenges of the future." - Michael Vanderpool
The Anthony Wayne Innovation and Design Center (AWIDC) is the brainchild of Michael Vanderpool, a resident of Whitehouse and a design and technology instructor. Mr. Vanderpool will be overseeing the curriculum and operations of the AWIDC.
"I believe that the future of Northwest Ohio depends on our kids' ability to participate in the future of work," begins Vanderpool. "And Anthony Wayne is the heart of Northwest Ohio, so it makes sense to focus our attention here."
Anthony Wayne is strategically placed between Toledo and rural Northwest Ohio.
"As someone who has taught college classes in tech and design in the region and engaged with young folks through esports, I've seen what our young people are capable of when given the opportunity," continues Vanderpool. "And that's all the Innovation and Design Center is - a place to make social connections and prepare for meaningful work in the future."
